Beijing Quantum Institute has Realized 615km Open-architecture Dual-field Quantum Key Distribution

Recently, Yuan Zhiliang’s team from Beijing Quantum Information Academy realized the open-architecture dual-field quantum key distribution (QKD) system for the first time using optical frequency comb technology, and completed the 615km fiber QKD experiment. The research results have been published in Nature Communications, an international academic journal, on February 18, 2023.

Based on the self-developed coherent sideband phase stabilization and remote laser source frequency calibration technology, Yuan Zhiliang's team developed the first new dual-field quantum key distribution system with open architecture and no service fiber, which realized the secure coding of low-loss optical fiber at the level of 400 km, 500 km and 600 km, and broke the code rate boundary of relayless quantum key distribution, and also successfully demonstrated the quantum key distribution experiment with an arm length difference of 100 km (the longest arm length difference record is currently recorded).
