On May 29, during the 2026 China-Portugal Science and Technology Forum on Climate and Energy, ZGC Software Park, a subsidiary of ZGC Group, and China University of Petroleum (Beijing) signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly establish the China-Portugal Joint Laboratory on AI for Climate and Energy.

Leveraging their complementary strengths in academia and industry, both parties will focus on five core areas, namely AI-driven energy modeling, intelligent climate risk forecasting, smart energy system optimization, precision management of low-carbon parks, and AI-assisted scientific decision-making for energy. They also aim to jointly build a professional and international “AI + Energy” demonstration and application platform. By integrating the entire chain of “research breakthroughs, technological iteration, scenario demonstration, enterprise empowerment, and international exchange”, they will also prioritize overcoming key technological bottlenecks in intelligent energy system optimization, precision carbon accounting, AI-driven green finance assessment, and low-carbon operations of smart parks. The ultimate goal is to ensure that cutting-edge AI technologies can be truly applied in real-world scenarios across the energy industry. 

Looking ahead, ZGC Software Park will continue to deepen university-enterprise collaboration and open access to its “AI + Energy” technologies and platform capabilities for internet, energy, and financial institutions. It will empower enterprises to deploy applications in areas such as intelligent data services, low-carbon operation management, customer profile, and green finance ratings. Supported by the China-Portugal cross-border sci-tech innovation network, the park will introduce cutting-edge international resources and projects, establish a regular mechanism for China-Portugal climate and energy AI innovation exchange, and support more enterprises in accelerating breakthroughs in low-carbon sectors.
