Recently, Beijing Weifan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., a technology achievement transformation project incubated from Peking University’s Brain-like Chip Laboratory, has completed a seed funding round worth hundreds of millions of RMB. The round was jointly led by ZGC Capital, a subsidiary of ZGC Group, and Qihang Investment, with participation from Shanghai Future-oriented Industries Fund, Stony Creek Capital, Biwin, Yanchuang Group, Haiyi Investment, and Tanyuan Ventures. The funds raised will be primarily used to expand the R&D team, complete the development of the instruction set architecture, and advance product definition and solution implementation.

Aiming at the challenge of balancing computing power, energy efficiency, and cost in robotic chips, Weifan Intelligent has fully leveraged its years of technical expertise in brain-like chips to independently develop the Brain-Inspired GPU architecture (BiGPU). This architecture integrates brain-like computing with general-purpose GPU computing capabilities and is natively designed for state-of-the-art (SOTA) large models in embodied AI. While incorporating brain-like computing mechanisms to reduce power consumption, the team also retains the GPU’s broad compatibility with various algorithmic frameworks. Therefore, it can achieve an optimal balance of low power consumption, high energy efficiency, and algorithmic flexibility. The company has mapped out a two-year R&D cycle for the project. The project is already more than halfway completed, and the project is scheduled for mass production in the second quarter of 2027.
