Toyota Fuel Cell R&D and Production Project (Phase I) Started Construction

The groundbreaking ceremony of the Toyota Fuel Cell R&D and Production Project (Phase I), which was designed by the Industrial Technology Institute, a member of the Group, was held in Beijing Yizhuang Economic and Technological Development Zone.

The project is being built by Huafeng Fuel Cell Co., Ltd. and United Fuel Cell System Research and Development (Beijing) Co., Ltd., covering an area of about 110,000 square meters. They plan to build fuel cell production lines, testing lines and a R&D center, and to conduct manufacturing and R&D work for fuel cell systems.

After completion, the project will bolster the healthy and rapid development of Beijing’s hydrogen energy industry, effectively drive widespread adoption of fuel cell vehicles, accelerate the materialization of “hydrogen society” and “environmentally friendly mobile society”, and help to promote hydrogen fuel cells and achieve carbon neutrality.Beijing Industrial Designing & Researching Institute has attached great importance to this project from early consultations. It has assembled an experienced project team that is working closely with Japanese experts from Toyota, to deeply understand the process requirements for hydrogen fuel cell production.

The team put forward a number constructive optimization suggestions from the design perspective, ranging from various consultations in the early stage of the project to the general design contract. The team staff made full use of their rich experience in international projects to localize the design scheme, and ensured the successful start of the project.
